The Personal Barber Review

The Personal Barber kit UK

A slightly unusual post from me today, but I just wanted to give a big shout out to a shaving subscription box for men that’s the perfect Father’s Day gift.

I was recently contacted by Bradley from The Personal Barber who reached out to offer me the chance to gift their shaving subscription box to someone special. After much deliberation, I decided that my partner, Oliver, was the perfect guinea pig to try it out. Oli always gets a little jealous whenever I receive ‘blogger mail’ so it was nice to be able to share the love this time! To his delight, a few days later a thoughtfully presented box of male grooming goodies arrived on our doorstep.

Their first box includes everything needed to achieve a seriously smooth shave including a safety razor, shaving brush, shaving soap (to get the perfect lather), blades, aftershave balm, and solid cologne. By Oliver’s account, it was a slight adjustment learning how to tilt the blade at the right angle but – after a few practice runs – he had it down. I know I’m not the one trying the product, but I could definitely see the difference these blades make. I can also appreciate just how incredible his face smells after his new shaving routine.

It’s particularly lovely how the kit is comprised of a series of items from different brands. I had a sneaky look around at the cost of each item versus the cost of the subscription box and you’re definitely saving a really significant amount by purchasing the boxes. All in all, I’d like to say a big thank you to The Personal Barber for giving me a lovely opportunity to give back to someone I love. Definitely a good shout for those of you still struggling to think of Father’s Day gift ideas. too!

You’ll find their full range of products here so go and check them out.

In the words of Bilbo Baggins: “I think I’m quite ready for another adventure.” I haven’t posted one of these kinds of updates in a while, so it’s really exciting to share the plans for my next trip. And, while I might not be disclosing the itinerary for a multi-month, round-the-world epic, I am thrilled […]

Unfortunately, my fear of having my camera stolen followed me to Brazil, so this blog post is also going to be supplemented with a couple of Instagram photos. Valentine’s Day: Romantic or Repulsive?

Valentine’s Day: Romantic or Repulsive?

February 5, 2014

I’ve certainly been on both sides of the Valentine’s debate from year to year. I know how it feels to walk into a supermarket in search of a humble sandwich and instead, to stagger inadvertently down the dreaded Valentine’s aisle. The chocolate covered hearts and beribboned teddy bears left me feeling annoyed and pressurised. Why […]

After my time on the Gold Coast, I headed back down to Sydney for my flight home. I arrived at 8am on yet another overnight bus, one month after I first entered Australia. I had booked a cheap hostel on Hostelworld because it claimed to have an early check-in option, from 9am. Here, I’d just […]

After a final few days in Bali, in which I quite possibly managed to consume my own weight in mie goreng (fried noodles) and avocado juice, we packed our backpacks and hopped on a flight to Melbourne, Australia.  Here, after an overnight pitstop in a rather chilly Melbourne hostel, we headed straight back to Melbourne […]

What can I say... this year has been a shocker, bu What can I say... this year has been a shocker, but I am confident that things are going to pick up in 2021. Looking forward to a new house, running @londonmarathon for @thestrokeassociation, skiing (🤞🏻), Mallorca, and a world where we use the words ‘lockdown’, ‘quarantine’ and ‘unprecedented’ a whole lot less than we did this year! Happy new year from me and mine to you and yours 🥂✨*

I feel so lucky to have had the chance to enjoy a I feel so lucky to have had the chance to enjoy a delicious meal at @gigglingsquid last night before Tier 3! 😭 My local Guildford restaurant has just been refurbished and it’s looking lovelier than ever. We went for the festive menu - highlights for me were the spicy beef skewers, duck red curry, and plaintain in coconut milk... but I taste-tested everything and it was all mouthwatering. 🤤 Thankfully, you can still order Giggling Squid’s food on @deliveroo - if now isn’t the time to treat yourself then I don’t know when is! 🎄

Oh, go on then! 🎄 We could all use a little extra joy in our lives at the moment. Pjs on, mulled wine mulled and Home Alone at the ready. Happy Friday, folks! ✨
Hands down the prettiest place I’ve ever bought Hands down the prettiest place I’ve ever bought a Christmas tree! 🎄 Sadly we aren’t buying one ourselves this year as there is a *chance* we may be moving out of our flat in December and we don’t want to have to disassemble a real one after only a few weeks. At least we got to go and pick one for my mum, drink some mulled wine and say hi to the alpacas 😂🦙
