Greenfrog Botanic Review

As I’ve grown older I’ve started to place a lot more significance on the ethos of the brands I choose to purchase.

I didn’t understand as a young child why my mother would refuse to buy any Nestlé products for ethical reasons – at the time it was just incredibly annoying that I wasn’t allowed to eat Cookie Crisp cereal for breakfast – but now I can completely see where she was coming from.

Similarly, animal testing is something that I feel very passionately against, so I was delighted to discover a brand that creates beautiful, cruelty-free, organic products. Nick and Julie at Greenfrog Botanic were kind enough to send me a few samples of their botanical soaps to try myself. Their soaps and body washes are made with soapberries, grown sustainably in the Himalayan Mountains. Their range is entirely vegan, vegetarian and paraben free… not to mention each soap smells good enough to eat!

Soapberries are used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat eczema, a skin condition that causes serious discomfort for a great number of people, including my boyfriend Oliver. The moisturising properties of the aloe vera have definitely made a difference to how soft my skin has felt since starting to use the samples and I’d really recommend it for anyone with eczema, sensitive skin or dry skin.

I wouldn’t agree to review anything that I didn’t feel was a quality product but I was very impressed with these guys. It gives me a lot of joy to support small businesses and I’d absolutely purchase these products again. The bottle design, the product quality, and the company’s ethos are all top-notch. What’s not to like?

You can find the products featured in my post on the Greenfrog Botanic shop, or check their list here for local retailers. Until May, the code Lily2016 gets you 20% off all Greenfrog Botanic products. Hope you like them as much as I do!

First of all, I’m sorry it’s been ages since I last updated here. I know I left you all hanging and you must be dying to pick up where we left off on my little adventure… Or not, but either way: I’m back to fill you all in. I mentioned in my last post that […]

Bay of Islands

April 28, 2016

I left the luxury of Pat and Peter’s place to start my 24-day tour of New Zealand at Nomads hostel, Auckland. Definitely a bit of a downgrade in terms of accommodation standards so far, but I was quite happy to be there after an evening with the group drinking $5 beers. The next morning we […]

Valentine’s Day: Romantic or Repulsive?

Valentine’s Day: Romantic or Repulsive?

February 5, 2014

I’ve certainly been on both sides of the Valentine’s debate from year to year. I know how it feels to walk into a supermarket in search of a humble sandwich and instead, to stagger inadvertently down the dreaded Valentine’s aisle. The chocolate covered hearts and beribboned teddy bears left me feeling annoyed and pressurised. Why […]

Just a quick post to let everyone who follows me know what’s happening at the moment with my upcoming travel plans. Essentially, everything I’ve planned is still going ahead, but I’ve pushed the trip back to leave on March 17th. Big thanks to STA and G Adventures for helping with the changes. Long story short: […]

Last week I was lucky enough to have the chance to see Les Enfant Terribles’s most recent production at the London Waterloo Vaults, ‘Alice’s Adventures Underground’. I wasn’t going to write about this because the show has just closed, and I felt it would be a bit harsh to go on about how great it […]

I recently ordered this card from Oh gosh, Cindy’s shop on Etsy and I just felt so impressed that I had to write a quick post to express my gratitude. All I can say is get online and look at the shop for yourselves. Immediately. It’s got an incredible variety of greeting cards and art […]

What can I say... this year has been a shocker, bu What can I say... this year has been a shocker, but I am confident that things are going to pick up in 2021. Looking forward to a new house, running @londonmarathon for @thestrokeassociation, skiing (🤞🏻), Mallorca, and a world where we use the words ‘lockdown’, ‘quarantine’ and ‘unprecedented’ a whole lot less than we did this year! Happy new year from me and mine to you and yours 🥂✨*

I feel so lucky to have had the chance to enjoy a I feel so lucky to have had the chance to enjoy a delicious meal at @gigglingsquid last night before Tier 3! 😭 My local Guildford restaurant has just been refurbished and it’s looking lovelier than ever. We went for the festive menu - highlights for me were the spicy beef skewers, duck red curry, and plaintain in coconut milk... but I taste-tested everything and it was all mouthwatering. 🤤 Thankfully, you can still order Giggling Squid’s food on @deliveroo - if now isn’t the time to treat yourself then I don’t know when is! 🎄
Christmas wrapping is (almost) done! 🎁 We reall Christmas wrapping is (almost) done! 🎁 We really went all out this year on gifts and it’s brought me so much joy. I’m not going to lie, it has been a tough month but I am LIVING for all the Christmas sprit right now! Feels like everyone is really embracing it this year 🎅🏻

Oh, go on then! 🎄 We could all use a little extra joy in our lives at the moment. Pjs on, mulled wine mulled and Home Alone at the ready. Happy Friday, folks! ✨
Hands down the prettiest place I’ve ever bought Hands down the prettiest place I’ve ever bought a Christmas tree! 🎄 Sadly we aren’t buying one ourselves this year as there is a *chance* we may be moving out of our flat in December and we don’t want to have to disassemble a real one after only a few weeks. At least we got to go and pick one for my mum, drink some mulled wine and say hi to the alpacas 😂🦙
Lockdown walks and lots of leaves! 🍁 Grateful f Lockdown walks and lots of leaves! 🍁 Grateful for the blue skies on our third day of #Lockdown2 because otherwise we’d be totally stuck inside. The world feels pretty heavy at the moment but we’re doing what we can to stay positive. It’s fair to say, though, that I really miss 2019 😂
